Being part of a group can make you feel safer and more confident but remember:
- Don’t let your friends pressure you into stupid or offensive behaviour.
- If your friends make you feel unsafe or worried talk to them, if they do not respect that they're not good friends.
- If you see another group and think there may be trouble then avoid confrontation.
- Don’t let you or your group be provoked by other groups.
- If you act aggressively to other groups you might end up in a situation you cannot handle.
- Always stay as a group, don’t split up or leave someone alone to walk home.
- Organise transport for everyone for the journey home, make sure you all get home.
- Put money aside for transport home, don’t spend it.
- Remember that if you drink or take drugs your perceptions and ability to make safe choices change.
