W4Y went to interview Tom from Crowborough who has recently completed the course. Read the interview :
W4Y: How did you get to go on the course?
Tom: I was lucky, it was given to me as a present and I did it about 3 weeks after passing my test.
W4Y: So what was involved?
Tom: I had 3, 2-hour lessons and we drove on all types of roads including quite a lot of the M23 and M25, which was good. I had the lessons in the instructors car, not mine.
W4Y: Did you learn much?
Tom: Quite a lot about motorway driving and I learned more about all the hazards on the road.
W4Y: What are the benefits then?
Tom: I should get a minimum of 10% off an insurance quote.
W4Y: Apart from the financial benefit, how has it changed your driving?
Tom: I am defiantly more aware of hazards on the road and I think it made me a bit more confident although I am quite a confident driver anyway.
W4Y: I understand you have to attend a workshop too. Tell us about that?
Tom: I went to county hall in Lewes for that, it lasted two hours. There were about 12 people there, mostly my age. It focused a lot on driver behaviour, some does and don'ts. We also talked about the dangers of driving if your angry or stressed The dangers associated with speed ad how to drive sensibly.
W4Y: So was it worth it and would you recommend to others?
Tom: Yes I would recommend it to other people and was it worth it ... definitely I should see the cost of the course back and more with that I get the money off the insurance.
W4Y: Thanks Tom and stay safe.
