Work experience is a facility that offers school pupils, college students and even teachers the opportunity to spend a period of time away from the academic world, thereby gaining experience in a different environment.
Many organisations in both the private sector (airlines, banks, insurance companies etc) and the public sector (Local Government, Civil Service, Police, Fire Brigade etc) offer this facility and can be approached direct for further information.
Wealden District Council offers various types of work experience ranging from a one-week block (usually in the summer term) to one day per week for the whole academic year. Our programme gives people the chance to work in a public sector organisation
and learn a little more about the “world of work” and the disciplines this entails – such as time keeping, appearance, working alongside adults etc.
