Cycling
Perhaps you've just got your first bike. It's great to whiz around and do tricks and stuff but remember you now have to look out for other people as well as yourself. You will be going much faster so always wear a helmet. Have a look at how to fit a helmet on the CycleSence website

Get trained! It's fun and usually arranged through your school in Year 6. East Sussex County Council train over 2000 young people every year and if you are one of the best there is an annual competition with lots of prizes, you can even with a new bike.
You need to be at least 9 years old at the start of the basic course, and at least 10 years old for the on-road training. You can find out more about these courses:

Cars
Sometimes we all have to go out in a car, but if we can we should try to cut down on car journeys as it helps the environment and can keep us fit.
Traffic fact ...
Over 1/5 of all cars on the road at peak time during the week are on the school run.
Remember when you are in a car you must always wear your seat belt which must fit properly. Children aged up to and including 11 years aren't big enough to travel without a child care seat or booster seat/cushion until they are about five feet (150cm) tall. A booster seat means the belt fits properly over your pelvis (hip bone) and shoulder. Make sure you get a grown-up to check.
Driving takes a lot of effort and concentration. You can help the driver by following these top tips:
- never lean or wave out of the window, or throw or hang anything out
- do not block the driver's view in the mirror
- only open door or windows if it is safe
- keep your hands away from the door handles while the car is moving
- when you get in or out of the car, use the door on the pavement side. Only get out when you are sure it is safe
