especially before eating or getting food ready to eat
and always after going to the toilet
Washing reduces the amount of bacteria that could cause infection. Using soap and warm water is better than just cold water.
Body odour
As you become a teenager you sweat more. Your body naturally produce sweat to cool you down. Sweat is salty water and does not smell until it mixes with bacteria on your skin.
You will need to wash more frequently than you did when you were younger to prevent body odour (BO). You should aim to have a bath or shower every day or at least wash your face, under your arms and your crotch every day.
Changing your underwear and socks daily will also be necessary. Check the armpits of your tops and the crotch of your trousers aren't smelly. Deodorant makes your armpits smell pleasant and antiperspirant will stop you sweating altogether under your arms.
