The Step By Step Stages Of Intoxication

 

Below are common effects of alcohol and we have put them in order of when they may occur.  The more you drink the more the effects on your body.  Also remember that we are all different and if you are not used to aclohol, and depending on your age and gender these effects may kick in with less units.

  • We become more talkative and our heart rate speeds up a little (1-2 units)
  • Thinking and reactions are slowed down, people may make unsafe choices (3-4 units)
  • Speech becomes effected—words may be slurred (5-6 Units)
  • Movement and balance is effected—people may stumble or bump into others (7-8 Units)
  • Hearing begins to go — people speak louder (7-8 Units)
  • Vision becomes blurred (9-10 units)
  • Breathing slows down (9-10 units)
  • Unconsciousness, coma, choking on vomit, and respiratory failure (no longer breathing) may occur (10+ units)
